Midhope Castle is one of the most beloved stops on our Outlander tour, instantly recognisable as Lallybroch, the Fraser family home and one of the most emotionally significant places in the entire series. Tucked away on the peaceful Hopetoun Estate, this 16th-century tower house feels wonderfully untouched by time, making it the perfect backdrop for Jamie and Claire’s world.

As we arrive, the approach is part of the magic. The quiet lane, the stone courtyard and the famous archway all appear just as they do on screen. Although the interior is not open to the public, the exterior alone is enough to bring the story to life — and it offers some of the most iconic photo opportunities of the whole tour.
