Dores Beach
Dores Beach, Loch Ness
Dores Beach is a peaceful and picturesque spot on the northern shores of Loch Ness, offering one of the best low-level views across the loch towards the distant Highland hills. Unlike the higher viewpoints found elsewhere, this gently sloping pebble beach brings you right down to the water’s edge, making it a relaxed and atmospheric place to experience Loch Ness at its most natural.
We like to visit Dores Beach as part of a Loch Ness journey, taking time to enjoy the fresh Highland air and wide-open views across the loch. It’s also one of the best places to keep an eye out for the famous Nessie hunter, often seen scanning the waters in search of Scotland’s most legendary resident. With the nearby village of Dores and its welcoming inn close by, this stop offers a quieter, more reflective contrast to the castles and viewpoints around Loch Ness.
