Culloden Battlefield is one of the most important and moving historic sites in Scotland. It marks the location of the Battle of Culloden in 1746, the final confrontation of the Jacobite rising, where the forces of Bonnie Prince Charlie were defeated by the British Government army. The battle lasted less than an hour but changed Highland history forever.

Today, the battlefield is a quiet and powerful place to visit, with open moorland, marked clan graves and clear pathways that allow visitors to walk the ground where the battle took place. The excellent visitor centre provides context through interactive displays, artefacts and personal stories from those involved. A visit to Culloden offers a deeper understanding of Scotland’s past and is often combined with nearby Inverness and Loch Ness as part of a meaningful Highland journey.
