Blair Atholl
Blair Atholl Highland Games
The Blair Atholl Highland Games are one of the most historic and atmospheric Highland gatherings in Scotland, and they are a highlight of our Highland Games tour programme. Held in the shadow of the magnificent Blair Castle, these games combine breathtaking scenery with the proud traditions of Scottish sport and culture. As you arrive in the village of Blair Atholl, the white towers of the castle and the surrounding Perthshire hills set the perfect stage for a day full of heritage, colour and excitement.
The Games feature all the classic events you’d hope to see — from the caber toss and hammer throw to Highland dancing and the unforgettable sound of pipe bands echoing across the estate. What makes Blair Atholl particularly special is the strong sense of local tradition: the Atholl Highlanders, Europe’s last remaining private army, often take part in ceremonies, adding a uniquely Scottish flair found nowhere else.
Between events, you can wander the beautifully kept grounds, enjoy local food and craft stalls, and soak in the warm, friendly atmosphere. Whether you’re an Outlander fan, a history lover, or simply someone looking for an authentic Highland experience, Blair Atholl offers a fantastic day out that blends culture, community and stunning Highland scenery.
